The opportunity

Virtalis are looking for a Senior XR Software Engineer to join our R&D team and develop high-performance, large-scale industrial XR systems.

We seek a highly experienced software engineer with a background in high performance graphics, high performance computing. or professional simulation and visualisation, who has a passion for problem solving, learning and innovation.

As a Senior XR Software Engineer you will become a leading member of the team developing the core technology of our cloud XR platform which enables the consumption of massive 3D datasets on mobile devices and standalone XR headsets.

The role

Responsibilities

A Senior XR Software Engineer at Virtalis is responsible for:

Researching and developing software

  • Researching and developing the software components for the Cloud XR platform.
  • Ensuring solutions are performant, extensible, and scalable.
  • Defining and delivering solutions that follow best practice and are of high quality.

Empowering the team

  • Supporting other members of the team as part of their continued professional development.
  • Championing team working, sharing, inclusion and knowledge sharing.

Skills

As a Senior XR Software Engineer you will be using the below technologies, and require skills and experience in:

Visualisation, Simulation and XR

  • Excellent knowledge and practical experience of graphics programming and graphics engines. such as scenegraphs, entity systems, 3D maths, shaders, or related fields such as physics and simulation engines.

Software Engineering

  • Excellent understanding of software performance, scaling and memory management.
  • Communicating design and ideas through effective diagrams and documentation.
  • Developing scalable solutions with a firm grasp of high performance computer science, domain driven design and event driven systems.

Software Delivery

  • Experience working in an agile software delivery environment using Scrum or Lean, and tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Coding

  • C# with the .NET technology stack (.NET Core)
  • Visual Studio.
  • Azure DevOp.
