The opportunity

Virtalis are looking for a QA Engineer to join our R&D team where we are developing high-performance, large-scale industrial XR systems.

Our connected and immersive visualisation solutions help industrial enterprise organisations who want to decrease time to value by connecting complex data and enabling effective team collaboration.

Our solutions connect multiple datasets from multiple environments (CAD, PLM, MES) so that colleagues, partners and suppliers can collaborate on complex projects using a common visual language. They are essential tools to transform engineering by connecting data and people across the physical and digital value chain. Better connection means better collaboration and better decisions, more quickly.

As a QA Engineer at Virtalis you will work with our agile teams to design, build and deliver the software that makes this possible. The ideal candidate for this role is a passionate software quality champion who knows that quality is an integral factor to a successful product.

The QA Engineer will be confident and methodical in their approach to software development working closely with the development team to deliver high-quality products.

They will be enthusiastic about quality assurance and champion all quality related activities ensuring that quality and testing is not an afterthought but planned up-front.

The role

Responsibilities

As a QA Engineer at Virtalis is responsible for:

Quality focus

  • Identify test scenarios and write test scripts; performing a range of black-box and white-box testing
  • Design and build test frameworks and utilities         
  • Develop the testing infrastructure and integration with CI/CD systems
  • Work with and evaluate existing manual test cases and identifying opportunities for automation
  • Work with other developers to ensure all new code is testable and readable
  • Work with the Product Owner to refine software test requirements and provide feedback on user scenarios
  • Debug test failures to identify the reasons behind them
  • Find and report bugs by breaking the code
  • Prepare test reports

Communication

  • Have the ability to communicate complex topics and defects in a simple and easy to digest manner.
  • Encourage a constructive environment where all team members can contribute to quality assurance and challenge assumptions.
  • Be an advocate for quality assurance in all Virtalis products with interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to define test strategies effectively and all stakeholders internally/externally understand these

Skills

As a QA Engineer you will require skills and experience in:

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Fluency with one or more programming/scripting languages
  • Experience with Agile testing methodologies and best practices
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting, analytical and problem solving skills

Advantageous experience

  • Experience of 3D visualisation environments and software
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium
  • Fluency with one or more programming/scripting languages
