Mid/Snr Product Owner

The opportunity

Virtalis are looking for a mid to senior Product Owner to join our R&D team and develop high-performance, large-scale industrial XR systems.

Our connected and immersive visualisation solutions help industrial enterprise organisations who want to decrease time to value by connecting complex data and enabling effective team collaboration.

Our solutions connect multiple datasets from multiple environments (CAD, PLM, MES) so that colleagues, partners and suppliers can collaborate on complex projects using a common visual language. They are essential tools to transform engineering by connecting data and people across the physical and digital value chain. Better connection means better collaboration and better decisions, more quickly.

As a product owner at Virtalis you will work with our agile teams to design, build and deliver the software that makes this possible. As Product Owner for the team you will work closely with the scrum-master to break down, detail and prioritise work. You will always be the voice of the customer and advocate from the customers' perspective. You will play a key role in translating the organisation’s business requirements into production software and managing its delivery.

The role

Responsibilities

A product owner at Virtalis is responsible for:

Product focus

• Work closely with R&D leadership team to help translate business goals and initiatives into prioritised backlog items.
• Collect and organise evidence to support product priorities from diverse stakeholders.
• Collaborate with UX designer to collect and analyse information about user needs.
• Be involved with user testing to refine / validate assumptions.

Being the voice of the customer

• Represent the end user in scoping and grooming sessions.
• Develop customer relationships with a view to fostering a feedback loop which can be used as insights for product development.
• Defining and delivering solutions that follow best practice and are of high quality.

Empowering the team

• Co-ordinate across different teams to manage dependencies.
• Championing team-work, inclusion and knowledge sharing.
• Ensure the team development process is effective and delivering quality software (working closely with the scrum master).
• Manage trade-offs between scope and schedule

Skills

As product owner you will be require skills and experience in:

Software Delivery

• Experience working in an agile software delivery environment using Scrum or Lean, and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• The ability to respond to new information quickly, balance conflicting priorities and make clear judgements.
• Produce evidence-based artefacts e.g. roadmaps.
• Be pragmatic with your craft, understanding when to act on data, insight or instinct.

Communication

• Have the ability to communicate complex topics in a simple and easy to digest manner.
• Encourage a constructive environment where all team members can contribute to product development and challenge assumptions.
• Be an advocate for the product mission in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
• The ability to use roadmaps to effectively engage business and keep everyone aligned with the product goals and strategy.

Advantageous experience

• Experience with engineering and industrial manufacturing data formats (CAD, PLM, MES).
• Experience with VR, AR, Game engines (e.g. Unity).
• Experience with WebXR.
• Experience with cloud technologies such as Azure/AWS
