AMRC with BOEING
Virtalis and The University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) with Boeing have informally collaborated on various projects over the last seven years.
Virtalis has been a sponsor of AMRC since 2006 and is also involved in all AMRC projects involving a simulation element. AMRC is a collaboration between world-leaders in the aerospace supply chain, key government offices and international academic institutions. The AMRC is based in an impressive £10 million “Rolls-Royce Factory of the Future” in Sheffield. There the AMRC team develops technology-driven solutions for materials-forming, metal-working, and castings, helping UK manufacturing to remain competitive.
As you’d expect of such a technologically led organisation, AMRC has three ActiveWorks VR systems. The two portable ones (one truly portable, the other a tracked system in the back of a lorry!) allow them to evangelise about VR and their technology all over the world, while their HQ boasts a cluster driven, fully tracked, rear projected ActiveWall.
