Virtalis Celebrates A Decade

Virtalis is celebrating a decade’s growth since the Buy In Management Buy Out, or “BIMBO”, that brought it into existence.  It is now a world-leading Virtual Reality (VR) Company and it can trace its heritage right back to the origins of commercialising VR 25 years ago.  It has also spawned spin-off businesses both in the UK and abroad.

“I can hardly believe it has been a decade”, said David Cockburn-Price, Virtalis MD.  “We have grown our turnover nearly ten-fold and from nine members of staff to more than 30.  We have opened two offices overseas, in the US and Germany, and we have live projects in countries like Brazil, South Africa and Malaysia.  Perhaps the most exciting thing though is our future, which, despite the economic turndown, has never looked rosier and busier.  We have numerous partnerships with innovative companies which we are only just beginning to benefit from.  These are in diverse sectors like mining, engineering, shipbuilding, retail, defence, medicine and academia and it is this broad experience, rather than a narrow reliance on a few niches, which will propel us to increased growth in our second decade.”

“Technologically speaking”, explained Andrew Connell, Virtalis’ technology director, “we have never had more R&D projects on the go.  We are poised to launch our Visionary Render software, which is set to change the face of advanced visualisation within business, making it more accessible, powerful and hassle free.  Ten years ago, our GeoVisionary and Helicopter Crew Reality systems were just a twinkle in our collective eye.  Back then, all our hardware was bespoke and there was no such thing as a “standard” VR system, something we’ve been proud to bring to the market as our ActiveWorks portfolio, allowing hundreds of businesses to benefit from the power of 3D.”
