Virtalis Senior Management Team
We eat sleep and breathe in a virtual world. We’re excited by technology and it’s potential for dramatic cutting edge results and projects cost reductions. Here’s a little bit more about the dedicated team behind Virtalis.
Key Team Members
Managing Director & Finance Director
David is the Virtalis Group’s Managing Director and Finance Director. He read Medicine at Cambridge University with a second tripos in History of Art (well, variety is the spice of life!). He then trained to be a Chartered Accountant, qualifying with Touche Ross in Manchester before joining Coopers and Lybrand as an audit manager in its Liverpool office. After the merger with Price Waterhouse, David moved back to Manchester as a senior manager and headed up the firm’s Industrial and Building Products Business Advisory Services Group.
Over the years, David has worked with some of the biggest names in manufacturing in the North West and has co-ordinated a global approach for some of those clients, successfully juggling the differing demands of corporate teams on different continents. David has recently been made a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He is married to Sarah with one son, Edward, and is particularly keen on good food and wine and has mastered the art of avoiding exercise (work/life balance not quite right!). His favourite artists are Masaccio, Gericault, Friedrich, Gorey and Sowa.
Andrew is fully experienced in all aspects of desktop and immersive VR technologies and is responsible for maintaining the high quality of the company’s deliverables. He has provided both technical and strategic VR consultancy to civil and military organisations in Europe, the USA including GEC Marine, the Department of Trade; Industry, the Ministry of Defence, Flag Officer Submarines, Bombardier, Elasis and CIRA (Italy), and Rolls-Royce.
Throughout his career, Andrew has maintained strong links with vendors of COTS VR systems, whilst still retaining a firm commitment to driving emergent visualisation technologies. He has represented both the company and the UK itself at many national and international functions, particularly in the USA, promoting the technical and commercial benefits of VR for industrial applications. Andrew is married with two infant sons and enjoys being tall and investigating new gadgets.
Non Executive Director
Glyn Read is a pioneering international businessman who has helped bring cutting edge technologies to market. He has worked with companies whose technology later became better known to us as the Internet and Data Analytics. He was appointed as non-executive chairman at The Virtalis Group in December 2008.
Steve Carpenter, is Virtalis’ sales director, having previously worked in sales at Virtalis for the last five years. He holds a degree in marketing engineering and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Steve lives in Bicester with his wife and two children and enjoys playing tennis. He is a self proclaimed gadget freak.
Head of Client Delivery
Dave Francis, formerly Head of Process and Systems Change at Network Rail, was recently recruited to fill a new senior management role as Virtalis’ Head of Client Delivery.
His focus is concerned with defining Virtalis’ end-to-end operating model and ensuring operation processes are joined up across the Company from pre-sales to post-delivery. As both the complexity and multinational nature of Virtalis projects increases, it was deemed important that the manager in charge of Quality should report to the Board. Dave is qualified in Change Management, Project Management and Process Excellence (Lean Sigma 6).
Married with four children, Dave loves riding motorbikes. In common with many at Virtalis, Dave counts himself to be a “Petrolhead”.
