Virtalis and Thames Technology Form Partnership

The LIMA Exhibition in Langkawi, Malaysia will see the establishment of a partnership between Virtalis and Thames Technology when Thames is appointed as the Virtalis agent in the region.

Thames Technology is a leading provider of information technology products and services in Malaysia. Captain Amir Sharifuddin Abdullah, Technical Director of Thames Technology, explained: “Virtalis first came to our notice when our contacts within the RMAF (Royal Malaysian Air Force) told us about the Helicopter Crew Reality (HCR) system they had seen at RAF Valley.  Our close working relationship with defence contracting firm, Heitech makes the addition of Virtalis know-how, systems and software on our various projects too good an opportunity to pass up.”

The LIMA (Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace) Exhibition runs from 6th to 10th December. LIMA is the premier exhibition for aerospace and maritime manufacturers targeting the Asia Pacific.  Delegates include key decision makers from the defence, enforcement and civil sectors.

“Virtalis, Thames and HeiTech Padu Berhad (a Malaysian Defence and Security company) are presenting what should prove to be a really exciting offering at LIMA”, said Mr. Sazman Redza Abu Bakar, Chief Technology Officer of HeiTech. “Not only will we be showing Virtalis’ HCR system, which uses tracked Head Mounted Displays (HMDs), we’ll also be giving the show’s attendees an intriguing hint of what is to come with one of their rear-projected ActiveMove display systems. We’ve created a demonstrator which should give those who experience it a glimpse of what is possible in VR today. By the end of next year, we hope to develop it into comprehensive virtual training for Malaysian Armed Forces’ strategic assets”.

David Cockburn-Price, Virtalis’ Managing Director, explained: “The official partnership agreement with Thames for business in Malaysia is the beginning of an exciting chapter for us. Both Thames and HeiTech have big ideas and we intend to give them as much development support and guidance as we can because I see the Asia Pacific marketplace as a key business driver in Virtalis’ future.”
