Virtalis Selects Pacific Geomatics as GeoVisionary Reseller
VIRTALIS has chosen pioneering Canadian geomatics company, Pacific Geomatics, to resell its new GeoVisionary software.
GeoVisionary enables the stereoscopic 3D visualisation of terabytes of landscape height and photo data and its underlying geological data. It has real-time rendering power, allowing users to “fly” over terrain at thousands of miles per hour, whilst maintaining a constant 60 frames per second. GeoVisionary has been developed collaboratively over the last three years by Virtalis and British Geological Survey (BGS).
Geoff Tomlins, Pacific Geomatics’ President explained: “When we first saw GeoVisionary at a show, our first thought was “Wow – what a powerful data integration tool”. Not only does it present surface relief, as well as imagery in stereo, but it also has the ability to model below ground, an aspect that is of great interest to the mining and exploration sectors. The high speed data engine powering GeoVisionary provides a very smooth,Generic Mine Head with vehicles modelled in CAD and included in GeoVisionary quick response and this, when combined with the ability to rapidly switch amongst multiple surface image types and view the landscapes in stereo, is unheard of in this industry. We have already begun a programme of demonstrations to leading figures in mining and feel confident that they will share our enthusiasm.”
Based in Vancouver, Pacific Geomatics is a satellite remote sensing company that provides complete spatial data solutions. For more than 20 years it has been providing digital satellite imagery to Canadian government departments and to major and mid-tier mining and exploration companies worldwide.
