GOVERNMENT
GeoVisionary is the result of a lengthy research collaboration between the British Geological Survey (BGS) and Virtalis. Until recently, GeoVisionary was used mainly by geoscientists, but now the system’s inherent qualities as a 3D repository for massive amounts of data from different sources are becoming apparent in other spheres and market sectors.
Adoption by Government has only just begun. Camden Council has modelled the entire length of its High Street within GeoVisionary so that stakeholders from different
parts of Camden’s administration can access this model. The model then becomes a unique, shared environment where it is possible to view layers of information to plan change thoroughly and avoid any potential conflicts.
GeoVisionary is ripe for adoption by national Government or even multinational Government, such as the European Union, as data sets for large regions, can be loaded simultaneously and at full resolution, while allowing real-time interaction with the data.
