Mike Gavins - Senior Engineer |
 Mike Gavins has been Virtalis's senior engineer since 1994. His career in the electronics/computer industry, working for Salford Electrical Instruments Ltd (a GEC Company), began in 1961 at a time when the silicon transistor was only just being introduced and the integrated circuit was generally unknown. In 1964 Mike moved into the computer industry with ICT (now ICL) and later took up a design engineering post with Ferranti.
A return to University in 1989 achieved an MSc degree in Instrumentation & Control and this began the current association with Virtalis. Mike has a wide experience in the design of computer, data communications, telecommunications and electronic hardware and systems, and has been single-handedly responsible for moving prototype demonstrators to fully approved and tested production items. He is currently active in the planning, design, installation and support of professional visualisation facilities for Virtalis’s clients, as well as our proprietary hand controllers and other specialised input devices. Mike likes fast cars and motorbikes as well as being the proud owner of more spare parts and "antique" electrical devices than anyone else we know. |
