Tim Goodwin - Senior Modeller

Tim is our Senior Modeller. he joined Virtalis in 1997, having previously studied for an HND (Higher National Diploma) in Audio and Video Systems and for a first degree in Video, Imaging and Communication Technology at Salford University.

Tim’s early work concentrated on PC VR implementations of areas and offices within UK nuclear installations, providing modelling support to other projects as necessary. His work was influential in convincing the nuclear industry to adopt VR as an integral part of its ergonomics design processes.

More recently, Tim has provided a key input to the development of the virtual RAF F3 Tornado aircraft and delivery of state-of-the-art Virtual Reality training systems for the MoD, including a close-range weapons simulator for HMS Collingwood and helicopter Voice Marshalling trainers for RAF Shawbury and Valley.

His technical capabilities extend to working with other modelling systems, haptic devices (especially SensAble's Phantom) and applications.

Tim often feels confined by 4 walls and is a keen snowboarder, diver and general exerciser, washing it all down with lots of wine. Tim is married to Gill, our Accounts & Admin Manager, and is also the father to Derek, who is a Hungarian Puli.
