VIRTUAL PROTOTYPE

|
Initial CAD models are converted into virtual models using PTC MockUp, with consultancy, services and training provided by Virtalis. 3D stereo reviews are conducted individually at the desktop PC level using either stereo glasses or Z-screens. Collaborative design and manufacturing reviews are conducted with Virtalis StereoWorks projection systems and associated immersive/interactive solutions as appropriate. Initial CFD, FEA, crash testing and analysis are performed virtually.

PHYSICAL PROTOTYPE

Rapid prototypes are made with Envisiontec or other 3D printers - including the versatile Perfactory Standard, the highly detailed Perfactory Mini and the Vanquish for fast build of large parts - with support, consumables and maintenance from Virtalis.

| MANUFACTURING

Run-throughs of the virtual manufacturing process using StereoWorks projection systems ensure information transfer from design to shop floor, provide excellent training and give a resource to refer to in the factory.

SELLING AND TRAINING
|
Virtual and rapid prototypes can be used even before full manufacture as a selling aid at trade shows and with customers, delivered with a significant “wow” factor - use Virtalis StereoWorks and Envisiontec 3D printers. Able to train both user and maintenance staff using virtual prototypes in a StereoWorks projection and interaction risk-free environment and provide them with 3D technical documentation from Lattice 3D

Complex CFD analyses can be carried out and visualised - our partnership with Cambridge Flow Solutions offers you our GigaCell VR solution.
Our partnership with PTC gives access to MockUp, with its unrivalled ability to visualise data from multiple CAD sources.
Virtual Prototyping, Manufacturing, Selling & Training Solutions from Virtalis
“VR will become the standard workstation for an engineer, just as CAD systems began to be about 15 years ago.”
Gennaro Monacelli, Manager, Elasis/Fiat
CAD data can be quickly converted to create a virtual prototype - quite literally, your designs come alive and you can engage in “free play” to explore, challenge, modify and explain them. This helps designers to share information with manufacturing teams, sales and marketing teams to interact better with customers and opinion formers, and user/maintenance training can be carried out in a risk-free and repeatable environment.
Physical Prototyping Solutions from Virtalis
"If a picture is worth a thousand words, than a physical 3-D mockup is worth 10,000 words." Jerry Clark, The Boeing Company
Produce small detailed models quickly and accurately as well as high quality larger models with 3D printers from the Envisiontec range. Using DLPTM technology, overlapping with our virtual prototyping systems, you can get high speed, excellent quality models in both the office and workshop environment. Virtalis has the knowledge to consult with you to determine the best 3D printer for the job you have - as well as reselling the Envisiontec range, we can introduce you to many other 3D printers.
CASE STUDIES
“We believe our adoption and investment in advanced VR techniques will generate better designs.” Gennaro Monacelli, Manager, Elasis, Scientific & Technical Network in Fiat
Elasis, part of the Fiat/Alfa Romeo Group, uses PTC DIVISION MockUp with CATIA and UG CAD in their ergonomic seating buck to designs, assess design quality, aesthetics and ergonomics as well as for benchmarking exercises against competitors’ models, conducting initial crash testing and reviewing passenger safety in virtual worlds.
ROI HAS EXCEEDED 1,500% SO FAR AND CONTINUES TO GROW
BAE SYSTEMS has both a corporate theatre and multiple assembly line StereoWorks systems for the Astute submarine, enabling staff to understand the design and build process and get it right first time. Their visualisation team at Barrow has been awarded a prestigious Chairman’s award for their work using our tools and technologies in BAE.
INVESTMENT PAID BACK IN ONE MONTH
Leyland Trucks, part of the Paccar Group, not only enhanced its design review procedures with their Virtalis StereoWorks system, it helped shop floor staff understand the design and the digital assembly process so that no physical prototypes were needed.
ROI ON LATEST MODEL WAS 1,000%, WITH FURTHER RETURNS FORECAST
Fermec, part of Terex, used its virtual prototype of a new backhoe, created by Virtalis from three different CAD packages, to check designs and sightlines. Sales staff took an immersive seating buck to a trade show and took six orders without a physical prototype!
For ICI and Fluor Daniel, we created virtual models which replaced costly scale plant models, improved working practices and reduced plant design and total life cycle costs. Two engineers, working in the same virtual world, co-operated in complex maintenance tasks.
Improve quality, enhance effectiveness and improve communication between teams…
...reduce cost and reduce risk.
