Wearing the HMV-B2 (Head Mounted Viewer– Binocular) enables soldiers to view mission critical information while maintaining their natural vision of their immediate surroundings.  In addition to being daylight readable, the display can also be used for night-time viewing.  The HMV-B2 emits extremely low light, thereby minimizing the chance of detection due to illumination.  Utilising OSSA technology (Open Sight for Situational Awareness), the HMV-B2 allows has less than 15% occlusion, preserving 85% of the driver’s natural sight.  With the HMV-B2 mounted securely to a helmet, goggles or other eyewear, thermal images are perceived as a 15-inch monitor floating a few feet away. Exhibiting combat-proven performance, the HMV-B2 provides hands-free, head-up viewing in a lightweight, ergonomic design.

The SV-6 PC Viewer offers mobile computing with an enhanced colour depth of 18 bits (262,144 colours).  In addition, it boasts lightweight optics and packaging.  It mounts to safety or conventional eyewear using a quick mount and dismount system.  The SV-6 may also be used for left or right eye viewing and has a built-in focus mechanism.  The pixel format is 640 columns by 480 rows.  It is compatible with most computers and instruments that provide a VGA signal at 60 Hz.

The CV-3 Video Viewer mounts on eyeglasses or safety eyewear and provides a monocular colour full VGA image.  It is a full video rate product capable of full motion video at 60 frames per second and is a field-changeable left or right eye viewer.  The focal distance can be adjusted from two feet to infinity.  It provides convenient controls for adjusting the contrast, brightness, tint, and colour of the image.  The miniature controls and battery are integrated in a lightweight, sleek system that is easily clipped to a belt or carried in a pocket.  The operating time on a single charge is approximately five hours.  The CV-3 is compatible with most NTSC video and PAL sources and input to it is through a conventional RCA connector.

Working in conjunction with patient-monitoring equipment, the MD-6 Critical Data Viewer displays vital signs, cath lab images, image guidance data or other critical data in a crisp floating image right before clinicians’ eyes — allowing them to focus on the patient and operative field.  By keeping both patient and critical data in the hand-eye axis, the viewer allows the user to view vital signs repeatedly without having to look away at the primary monitor.  It can connect to two VGA sources and so the user can view two sets of critical data and alternate between data sets.  Compact, lightweight and comfortable, it easily attaches to surgical or prescription eyewear using a quick mount and dismount system.  The MD-6 may also be used for left or right eye viewing and has a built-in focus mechanism.  The viewer is compatible with most patient-monitoring equipment.

For the portable video consumer market, MicroOptical has created the myvu personal media viewer.  The myvu viewer is compatible with NTSC and PAL media players, such as the Apple iPod, Archos Gmini and Creative Labs Zen.
