Haptic Cow at Britain’s Newest Vet School
Haptic Cow at NottinghamTHE HAPTIC COW is forming part of the first year curriculum for students at Britain’s first new school of veterinary medicine for fifty years at Nottingham University.  The system, which draws on virtual touch, or haptics, was launched earlier this year by Virtalis working in collaboration with the system’s inventor, Sarah Baillie.  The Haptic Cow enables students to carry out virtual rectal examinations on cows, with their movements being recorded on the instructor’s computer monitor

FastSCAN integral part of Dinosaur and Early Hominid Research
A scan of Lucy's distal ulna using Fast SCANSHARED research between the Universities of Sheffield and Manchester is providing academics with an additional insight into the sphere of bio mechanics.  The team is in receipt of two grants from the Natural Environment Research Council and National Geographic and is carrying out research into the locomotion of dinosaurs and early hominids.

1:1 Scale VR brings Automotive Design to Life at Coventry University
Coventry University students understanding and interacting with Stereo 3D models from VirtalisCOVENTRY University has long been recognised as a Centre of Excellence for automotive design. Now its undergraduate and postgraduate students are to get a bit more help in the shape of a Virtalis StereoWorks passive 3D stereo visualisation system. The massive flat panel screen is mounted on the floor, so virtual vehicles can drive right out, enabling tutors and students to see the design at its intended size.
